Josh Turner and Jennifer Ford crossed paths in the late 1990s during their time at Belmont University in Nashville. Their friendship felt different from the start, as Josh recalls in his book, Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family, and Fatherhood.
He describes that time as “unbelievable,” highlighting the deep connection they shared. They took their relationship “real slow,” with Jennifer not referring to Josh as her boyfriend until six months into their relationship.
In November 2002, Josh planned a romantic surprise proposal at Nashville’s Percy Priest Lake. He serenaded Jennifer with “I Can See It In Your Smile,” a song he wrote for her, before presenting an engagement ring.
“Meeting her wasn’t planned or expected, but our friendship felt completely different. For the first time, I was truly on cloud nine. I can’t really explain that time other than to say it was unbelievable,” he wrote.
On November 9, 2022, Josh Turner shared an Instagram post with a photo alongside his wife, captioning it, “Twenty years ago today, I planned a romantic picnic and hid the ring. The day didn’t go exactly as planned, but thankfully she still said YES!”
Their wedding took place on June 14, 2003, at the Snellville United Methodist Church, attended by 500 guests.
